Ginny: 15 Months Old

And yet, today she is 16 months old. It's funny how I sometimes suck at updating the things that need updating! So, in celebration of a month milestone (and exactly one month late), here is Ginny's 15 month update!

Stats: 21 lbs and 29" tall. Still a bit of a shorty, but growing along her own little curve.

Clothing: 18 months with a few 24 months thrown in. She still has some tiny feet though, I think she's in size 4's?

Favorite activities: Giving Mommy and Daddy a heart attack. But really, this girl is a dare devil like Charlie never was. She is our climber! It is amazing how sure she is on her feet though - up and down stairs, climbing onto chairs (and tables!), up ladders and down slides. It blows my mind. Her favorite things right now are the slide into the kiddie pool and trying to figure out Charlie's tricycle.

Favorite toys: Lately she has really been enjoying her singing princess castle and Klip Klop stable play sets. She'll sit for quite a while and move the princesses around, making them dance and sing with the music. She also loves and wants pretty much anything Charlie is playing with at the time. She drives that poor boy nuts.

Eating: Everything. Absolutely everything. Her favorite foods are bananas and other fruit, crackers, pickles, and anything sweet.

New Tricks: This girl is CHATTY. She must have 50-60 words at this point and is beginning to pair some of them together to make tiny sentences. She says please when she wants something and has been really good about communicating when she wants something or needs something. I know I won't remember them all, but at this point she can say Mommy, Daddy, Charlie, puppy, kitty, banana, milk, more, please, night night, all done, get out (of her room or high chair), ball, baby, read, book, bye bye, hi, tickle, poo poo (she tells us when she does it!), yes, no, up, down, belly, head, nose, eyes, ears, shoes, love you....and I can't even remember the rest!

She can point out and name several body parts, take off her shoes and put them away, do motions to a few songs, give the BEST hugs and kisses, and follow most directions we give her. She is one smart cookie!

Sleep: Still loving her big girl bed!

CAH Update: After firing Ginny's endocrinologist and jumping through a few other hoops, we're meeting with a new doctor August 8th. I cannot wait to meet her and get some answers for what has been happening lately! Ginny is doing much better with the salt seeking, but she's been pretty run down and asking to go to bed at 6PM. A little concerning, but hopefully it's just a growth spurt.

I can't even explain how much personality this little girl has. I love every sassy second of it. She is so energetic, yet incredibly affectionate; she gives the best hugs I've ever gotten and gives me kisses hello and good bye/good night unprompted. The sound of her little voice screaming, "Mommy!!" when she hears me come home after work is the most wonderful sound. Happy 1 1/4 birthday, my sweet girl.

Countdown to ONE!

Someone is 11 months old! Well, on the 27th she was, but bear with me here. I can't believe this funny, sassy little lady will be one in less than a month. They say time goes faster with each subsequent kid and they're right. These past 11 months have flown by in a way I couldn't have even anticipated.

Here's what's up this month...

Stats: We haven't been in for a check up recently, but she's about 19 lbs and 26 1/2" tall. Still a shorty, but that's alright. She's fitting perfectly in 6-9 month clothes, but wears some 12 month stuff like jeans and jackets.

Ginny's little personality is seriously starting to show. She is so sweet and cuddly - always wanting hugs and slobbery open mouth kisses. If you sit on the floor, she'll crawl over and climb on you, wrapping her pudgy little arms around your neck for a hug. Makes any day better! She's not quite walking yet, but zooms around the living room with any push toy and cruises on furniture like a champ. She can stand solo, but I think she's afraid to take a step. One of these days, she'll just take off. I know it.

She has discovered the play kitchen and loves playing with the fabric food and dishes. The kitchen has been Charlie's for 2 years now, so he's (slowly) learning to share with her. She also has been enjoying her singing princess castle and her pull back zoomer cars.

Ginny's been chattering up a storm, saying mama, dada, baba, uh-oh, night night, puppy (puh-puh), and hi. She loves to wave at people, play peek-a-boo with Charlie, and laughing at just about everything he does. She tries to undress herself, though all she can take off successfully are her socks and shoes.

Some firsts this month included her first snow day and first time sledding. She's also eating a ton more foods and loves feeding herself (and making a mess). She still loves the bath and splashing, but has also found a love for climbing all over things, making music, and investigating just about everything she can get her hands on.

One more month baby girl, then you're officially a toddler. This month will be full of birthday party planning, preparing to transition to a new room at daycare, and a whole lot of fun.

Birthday Party Time!

Well, not yet, but sooner than I'd like to admit. In less than 3 months, Ginny will turn one! With how busy work is going to be over the next several weeks, I really needed to get going on planning her birthday party. After a little Pinteresting, we have a theme and I started working on her invites and some printables!

Ginny's birthday will be Wizard of Oz themed - one of my favorite stories of all time. It was between that and Alice in Wonderland, but the thought of her in a little gingham dress and ruby slippers won out big time. The big thing on my to do list will be making her dress and finding ruby slippers for her tiny feet. I have the Oz pattern from Charlie's first Halloween costume, but the trick will be making time to make it. It'll be so worth it.

Birthday to do list:

  • Make Dorothy dress
  • Find ruby slippers
  • Make invitations
  • Print and send invitations
  • Decide menu
  • Pick cake design
  • Make birthday banner
  • Pick things for goodie bags

So far, I've made the invitations, thank you cards, and tags for goodie bags. I'd really like to get moving on the dress and banner, but it'll all depend on sales at Michael's and JoAnn's. Hopefully, the next few weeks bring lots of good coupons!

Ginny: 9 Months

Three quarters of a year down! Three months to go until she's one. Wow.

Stats: 16lbs. and 25 1/2" long

Favorite toys: LeapFrog Picnic basket, her Rapunzel doll, and her basket of toy cars.

Favorite activities: Pulling absolutely everything out of the toy storage. At least it keeps her occupied for a long time while she's doing it. She has also been trying her hardest to rock herself on her new rocking giraffe, thought it mostly just looks like she's head banging to some rock music.

New foods this month: I can't even keep track at this point! She eats just about everything we eat (save for the obvious baby no no's) and feeds herself so well. We've started giving her baby size utensils to play with and while she's not exactly graceful with them, she understands what they're for.

Clothing: On her way out of 6 months and starting to fill in 9 months.

Teeth: Four on top, four on bottom...and she's still teething!

Sleep: Mostly sleeping through the night, but wakes up once in a while. I think she's been going through a growth spurt on top of the teething, so night time is a crap shoot.

New Tricks: Pulling to stand on just about everything and trying to take a few steps while holding on.

Firsts This Month: Time in the snow, Christmas

Over the past month, I've really started to see her personality come out. She is social, flirty, feisty, and quite the trouble maker. She's starting to understand the word "no," but cares very little. She is curious about every strange noise, new person, new place, or new thing. She still loves to be worn and cuddled even though she's getting bigger - and I love it.

It blows my mind that in three short months she will be turning one. I thought time went fast with Charlie, but that was nothing compared to how fast this first year has been going. When she wants to be cuddled a random times during the day its like she knows time is flying and we want her to be little for as long as we can. <3 p="">

Ginny: 7 and 8 Months

Holy crap, I suck at posting Ginny's month updates!! Sorry, second child.

Seven Months

October 27th, 2013

Stats: 14 lbs. 10 oz., 25" long

Favorite toys: Stacking cups, her new Rapunzel doll, and anything she can chew on.

Favorite activities: Now that she can sit up, she loves watching people and things. While we were at Disney, she refused to sit in the infant seat facing me - she wanted to sit in the front so she could people watch. She sat content for hours as we walked around the parks.

New foods this month: She's mastered picking up puffs, Cheerios, and just about anything else we put on her tray.

Clothing: 6-9 months

Teeth: Four on top, two on bottom

Sleep: One to two wakes up per night, but its not bad. She goes back down pretty well.

New Tricks: Belly scooting! She's starting to move a little bit more, but still struggling with direction. She's also saying Dada and Mama to us and trying to give us big sloppy, open mouth kisses.

Firsts This Month: First trip to Hershey Park, first time on swings, first flight, first trip to Disney World, first Halloween, first parade and fireworks.

Eight Months

November 27th, 2013

Stats: 15lbs. 4oz. and 25" long

Favorite toys: This month, I started putting away some of the baby toys and bringing out some of the bigger infant toys like the LeapFrog Cook and Play Potsy and Fisher Price Roll-a-Rounds Gumballs Machine. They were some of Charlie's favorite and it seems that Ginny is a big fan too. She loves the noises they make and, of course, eating the pieces.

Favorite activities: Destroying the living room! She loves to pull all of the toys out of bins, all the movies off the shelves, and wrestling with her dolls. She is a lunatic and cracks me up! She's started trying to take things from Charlie and he is NOT a fan.

New foods this month: Aside from peanut butter and honey, I think this girl has tried almost everything and she loves it. She has started taking bites of larger pieces of food and trying to use a spoon, so she's well on her way!

Clothing: 6-9 months

Teeth: Four on top, two on the bottom, and two more just coming in on the bottom.

Sleep: Still getting up at least once during the night. We're not sure if its from teething or out of habit, but either way, its not fun.

New Tricks: She's getting super fast at scooting across the living room and has started crawling on hands and knees. She figured out how to sit herself up and pull up to her knees (and sometimes to standing).

Firsts This Month: First Thanksgiving, first baby doll, splashing in the tub, pulling to stand

Ginny: 5 Months & 6 Months

While on an unexpected hiatus, I completely missed out on posting Ginny's 5 and 6 month updates. Whoops! Here's what Miss G has been up to.

5 Months
August 27th, 2013

Stats: 13lbs 14oz, 24 1/2" long

Favorite toys: She's working on two top teeth that I swear are coming in any second, so her current favorite is Sophie. I never understood the allure of a $20 teether, but holy moly - she loves it and it really seems to help!

Favorite activities: Exploring the living room via rolling and bouncing in her jumperoo. She has started to notice Charlie more, so when he does silly things she laughs and laughs. Melts my heart.

Clothing: Almost in 6-9 months. I put away all of her tiny clothes and broke out the fall/winter stuff!

Teeth: Two bottoms and working on two tops.

Sleep: Sleeping through the night. Yesssssss.

New Tricks: She's working on sitting up and is almost there!

6 Months
September 27th, 2013

Stats: 14 lbs. 10 oz., 25" long

Favorite toys: Her Lamaze  Princess Sophie and the Fisher-Price Kick and Play Piano Gym are her favorite things right now. The Kick Piano has out lived most other toys she's had - it goes from a lay down gym, to a sitting toy so I'm sure it'll be popular around here for a long time!

Favorite activities: Rolling and scooting around the floor. Seriously, she would do this for hours and hours. She likes being held plenty, but she really loves being free to scoot.

New foods this month: Puffs, mango, apples, squash, sweet potato, crackers, carrots, and peas. She loves just about everything! She's working on picking up the puffs and gets most of them in her mouth. The others, Penny is happy to catch.

Clothing: 6-9 months, especially pants for her long legs and fluffy butt.

Teeth: Two bottoms, two tops.

Sleep: She's gone back to waking up at night to eat, but what can you do - she's a growing girl! Her naps go back and forth from long to non-existent.

New Tricks: Sitting up really well and almost crawling! She'll get up on hands and knees and rock back and forth. I bet she'll have it down in the next month or so!

My big girl sitting up all by herself!

And then this happened. Just can't handle the brother love.

Four Months

Stats: 13 lbs. 6 oz. and 24 1/2" long

Firsts this month: Laughing, recognizing family members, finding her feet, rolling over

Clothes: Rockin' all of her adorable 6 month size summer dresses.

Sleeping: Like. a. champ. and I am a VERY happy Mommy. I know full well that it could end at any time without notice (hello, teething...), but until then, I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

Eating: Breastfeeding is going amazing and my supply has finally stabilized to where I can sleep through the night without being engorged. So far, pumping at work is going well and I have been able to bring home more than she's drinking while I'm gone. I'm so grateful for this buffer time between me going back to work and her going to daycare. Being able to nurse her during lunch has made the transition so much easier.

New Tricks: She absolutely loves hearing her own voice. She squeals and shrieks, then laughs at herself. What a ham already. She's also grabbing at things with better accuracy and playing with toys dangled in front of her or put in her hands. Her latest thing is arching her back or trying to pull forward to get away from wherever she is - always on the move!

Ginny: Three Months

Miss G is three months old!

Stats: 13 lbs. 3 oz. and 24 1/2" long

Firsts this month: Trip to the zoo, holding her head up, sleeping through the night

Clothes: She absolutely flew through 0-3 months clothes and is now in almost all 3-6 months things - especially onesies and sleepers. She's long with cute chubby legs. I love it!

Sleeping: We have been seriously enjoying sleep in this house. For the past month or so, Ginny has been sleeping from around 9pm until between 5am and 6am! Absolutely amazing. Occasionally, she'll get up around 2am for a quick snack, but otherwise she loves her sleep. She's been in her crib, unswaddled and loves to stretch out like a little starfish.

Eating: Three months and going strong. I'm so happy and blessed that breastfeeding is going well. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I'm proud that we haven't needed to supplement at all.

New Tricks: She's gotten very good at holding her head up and has started babbling/squealing when she is playing. I need to catch it on video one of these days. She can sort of roll over from her belly to back, but I think it's mostly just tipping over.
